If you don't know how to read the room then you are in trouble. It decides whether the rest of your skills even matter.

You can be good at your job, knowledgeable, never missed a deadline

Still get passed over.

Meanwhile someone with half your experience is already closer to the boss, already earning trust in the boardroom.

Kenapa?

Because nobody promotes you just for being right. They promote you for how it feels to work with you.

The good ones don't read minds. They read the room.

They notice when someone's gone quiet in a meeting. When the moment needs empathy, not another boring slide. When to push, and when to just diam.

"I didn't mean it that way" is the most useless sentence in the office. What you meant doesn't matter. What they felt does.

Your reputation is not your CV. It's whether people want you in the room again.

That gets built one small moment at a time. Not one big speech.

Skill gets you the job. How you handle people decides how far you go after that.

That's why I'm running a workshop on this topic with Geeva Samynathan. Sense & Social Sensitivity.

4 October, 9:30am to 12:30pm, Iconik PJ.
