Happinezz is not just purely a feeling. It is also a chemical reaction

When we feel happy, there is a chemical reaction happening inside our brain to produce that feeling

Which chemicals/hormones are involved?

It’s these ones

Dopamine - Oxytocin - Serotonin - Endorphin

Some people call them the “happy hormones”.

Here’s a simple explanation of what they do and how we can boost their levels:

1) Dopamine = reward

  • You feel it when you move forward.

  • Triggers: small wins, learning, finishing tasks.

  • Quick boost: write 3 tiny tasks → finish 1 in 10 minutes.

2) Oxytocin = love & connection

  • You feel it when you feel safe with people.

  • Triggers: hugs, trust, kindness, real conversations.

  • Quick boost: message someone “thinking of you” or help a person today.

3) Serotonin = calm confidence

  • You feel it when life feels stable and okay.

  • Triggers: sunlight, routine, gratitude, steady sleep.

  • Quick boost: 10–20 min morning light + 1 self-gratitude note

4) Endorphins = relief + energy

  • You feel it when your body says “we can handle this”.

  • Triggers: exercise, laughter, spicy food, cold shower (some people).

  • Quick boost: 15-min brisk walk or 20 squats + laugh at video clips.
