❓ Do I need to put a photo?

No you don't have to. If you want to include a photo, make sure it’s a professional photo not just the screenshot of your IG or FB profile

❓ Do I need to put marital status?

No tak payah. Actually during interview pun they are not allowed to ask about family, children, pregnancy plan etc to prevent bias

❓ Do I need to put full address?

No need. It is enough just to put the city where you are from

❓ Should I include my salary expectation?

No need to put it in the CV. It is for later negotiation when you got the job

❓ How many pages is the ideal length?

1-2 pages is enough. The hiring managers are busy people and don’t have time to read long CVs

❓ Do I need to include employment gap?

Yes definitely. Otherwise they will find out anyway.

❓ Do I need a summary section?

Yes yes it’s a must. It’s the MOST IMPORTANT part of your CV. A good summary should be able to get you the interview already. 

❓ How long should the summary be?

Just one well written paragraph is enough.

❓ Do I need to put the referee names?

No need actually. If you get the job, we will ask you for reference later

❓ Should I put my exam results in the CV?

For new graduates, yes you can include it. But the longer you are in the workforce, then the less relevant exam results become. Your experience is what matters more than CGPA

❓ What kind of achievements should I put in?

Put only the relevant ones for the job.

❓ Should I include my primary school?

Errr no need la. So long ago already and it doesn't matter where you go to school. Secondary school pun can omit

❓ Should I buy a CV template?

No need la. CV is not that complicated. Make sure you tailor it each time to the job that you are applying

❓ Can CV be colorful or just plain black & white?

You can have some colour but don't make it a rainbow
