I noticed a trend that many mid-40 and 50+ year olds are getting laid off
Maybe because their salaries are higher so cutting them can save the company a lot of money
For them yg kena laid off, the challenge is there are not many senior roles vacancies
So susah nak carik kerja
When I work with them for interview preparation, I focus on clarifying what they have done and what were their big big achievements
Usually they have problem explaining to me what they have done in their 20+ years career
They expect me (and other people) to be able to understand from the long lists of things that they have written on their CV
I’m sorry but it’s not like that
You have to be able to tell your career story in a way that orang lain senang paham
And most importantly in a way to convince the interviewer that you are the best candidate for the job
You are the storyteller and you are responsible for your interview success or failure
