I helped a client got a job in a new industry recently after she failed many interviews already

She was made redundant and she’s been out of work for a few months

She was in a senior position before so bias la susah sikit nak carik something similar

She’s been to a few interviews tapi has been unlucky and tak dapat

When we started the interview preparation coaching session, I realized there are two problems

First is the mindset.

Because she was made redundant and has already failed a few interviews, I can sense that she was low in confidence and also starting to feel a little bit desperate.

So that was the first thing that we needed to fix.

I told her that

‘you have to get over the feeling of rejection and start focusing on being as positive as you can be, because if you don’t, the interviewer nanti boleh rasa the negative energy.’

I told her that you have to go in with the attitude that ‘I am the best candidate for the job’

The second problem that I noted is that she has some trouble articulating her achievements.

It’s typical of someone who has worked for a number of years. There are many things that we can talk about, but because interview time is limited, you have to focus on what’s gonna impress the interviewer the most

So we worked on to pick the best three out of all her achievements, pilih tiga je, and then to make sure that the story is concise but full of details to impress the interviewer

We don’t want the story to be too long because then the interviewer will lose interest

The next interview that she went to went well, according to plan, and just last week, she got her job offer and accepted it

I’m so happy that I could help another person get a more better job.

She will have a great start to the Year of the Horse  🧧
