HOT CAREER TOPICS THIS WEEK 🔥

A company offered a candidate $25K MORE than they asked for.

Not a typo. Read that again.

---

Okay lah, I know. Every week I scroll LinkedIn and Reddit so you don't have to. This week the internet was giler emosi — angry about money, sad about silence, and confused about robots writing their resumes. Three topics dominated everything. Let's go through them, satu-satu.

---

1. "Exploitation With An Offer Letter"

A recruiter posted this: candidate asked for $95K. Budget was $120K. She offered $120K.

Simple story. 25,000 likes. 660 comments. 801 shares.

Why did this blow up? Because deep down, semua orang tahu — companies lowball people who don't negotiate, and call it "smart hiring." It's not smart. It's exploitation with a signing bonus.

Here's the part that stings more: this isn't really about one generous recruiter. It's about the thousands who don't do that.

Tahu tak the saddest bit? People are now openly sharing salaries with coworkers just to protect themselves from this. It shouldn't take a spreadsheet leak to get paid fairly.

If your company pays people based on how well they negotiate instead of what the job is worth — that's not a pay structure. That's a game show.

2. The Ghosting Epidemic

700 applications. 375 ghosted. 20 days unemployed. 7 months of searching.

One job offer.

The person who posted this got 9,782 likes because everyone recognised the feeling — that silence after an interview that "went fantastic," followed by seeing the same job reposted a month later.

Selalu dengar "we'll be in touch" but then nothing. No rejection. No feedback. Just silence.

I've said this before and I'll say it again lah: ghosting a candidate after an interview is not a soft skill problem, it's a respect problem. You spent an hour of someone's life. The least you owe them is one email.

To everyone stuck in the silence right now, this is not a reflection of your worth. Keep applying. The system is broken, not you.

3. Everyone's Using AI To Job Hunt Now

"Copy paste these 7 prompts to land a job in 30 days." 1,945 likes. 227 reposts.

Threads is full of this now, people using ChatGPT and Claude to tailor resumes, write cover letters, even find jobs that aren't advertised yet.

Memang bagus, this saves time. But here's my confession: every time someone lets AI write their whole application, a recruiter somewhere reads it and immediately knows. Same structure. Same "results-driven professional" energy.

Use AI to save time, not to replace your voice. Let it draft. You edit. You're the one who has to answer questions about it in the interview, not ChatGPT.

More I. Less AI. Especially in your resume, ok

That's the week lah. Money, silence, and robots. Sounds about right for 2026.
